Each creature feels three things: its body, its resources and its bonds. Every instant it imagines a handful of possible futures and chooses the one that brings it closest to where it wants to be. Nothing tells it what to do; what hurts and what relieves it does.
Put in worlds it was not made for, alongside agents trained to win, it forages, flees, gives to its sibling and stays by it. Beside it, a language model can now propose plans; the body judges them with what it feels, and keeps the last word.
